Home Business Explorer (“we,” “us”) is operated by [LEGAL BUSINESS NAME]. We help people figure out what kind of business to start and, if they want, help them launch it. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
The short version: We use your answers and contact details to talk with you about starting a business. We don’t sell your information. We only share it with another person or company if you ask us to connect you with them.
Information we collect
- Information you give us: your name, phone number, email, state/province, and time zone, plus your assessment answers: the kind of business that interests you, your budget range, available time, timeline, comfort finding customers, resources, progress so far, and what you hope a business will make possible.
- Information from our conversations: notes from calls, any recommendations we make, and any services you buy from us.
- Scheduling: if you book a call, our scheduling tool (cal.com) tells us the time you picked.
- Information collected automatically: your IP address, browser and device type, approximate location based on your IP address, the page you came from, ad campaign details in the link you clicked, and the date and time you submitted the assessment. We also keep a record of the exact consent wording you agreed to.
- Bot protection: we use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that submissions come from real people.
Please don’t send us sensitive information such as bank account numbers, health information, or government ID numbers.
How we use it
- To schedule and hold your consultation, and to follow up as you agreed.
- To recommend business paths that fit your situation.
- To provide services you choose to buy from us.
- To keep records of your consent and honor any opt-out.
- To understand which ads and pages work, prevent spam and fraud, and comply with the law.
Who we share it with
- People you ask to be connected with. If direct sales or a franchise fits you, we may offer to introduce you to someone we’ve vetted. We tell you who they are first, and we share your name, contact details, and relevant answers only if you say yes. We may receive a referral fee. See How we’re paid.
- Service providers that run our website, database, scheduling, and email (for example, Cloudflare and cal.com). They may use your information only to provide services to us.
- Legal reasons: when required by law, to protect our rights, or as part of a merger or sale of our business.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
Calls and texts
If you agree on our form, we may call, text, and email you about your assessment, your consultation, and our services. Some texts may be sent with automated technology, such as appointment reminders. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies. Reply STOP to any text to stop texts, or HELP for help. You can also tell us on any call that you don’t want to be contacted again.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Ask us to stop contacting you.
- Know what personal information we have about you and who we shared it with, and get a copy.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Ask us to delete your personal information.
- Withdraw your consent at any time.
To make a request, use our privacy request page or email privacy@homebusinessexplorer.com. We stop contacting you as soon as we receive a request. For other requests, we may need to confirm it’s you by checking details you gave us. You may use an authorized agent; we may ask for proof that the agent is authorized. We won’t treat you differently for using your rights.
Canadian residents
We collect, use, and share your information only with your consent, as described here, and you may withdraw it at any time. Our service providers store information in the United States, so it may be accessible to authorities there under U.S. law. How long we keep it
We keep your contact details and answers for up to 24 months after our last contact with you, unless you ask us to delete them sooner or you become a client (then we keep records as long as needed for the work and for tax and legal purposes). We keep records of your consent and opt-out requests for up to 5 years, so we can show we respected your choices.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections and restricted access, to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure.
Children
This site is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will ask for your consent where the law requires it.
