How we’re paid

We think you should know how a business makes money before you take its advice. Here’s how we do.
The assessment and the first call are free
There’s no charge for the assessment or the 10-minute call, and no obligation. Sometimes the most useful thing we can do is point you in the right direction, and we don’t charge for that.
Services you choose to buy
If you want hands-on help, we offer paid services such as a written business launch plan, naming and branding, websites, marketing, and help finding your first customers. We tell you what’s included and what it costs before you decide. We won’t recommend spending money on our services that you need to actually start your business.
Referral fees
If direct sales or a franchise looks like a good fit, we may introduce you to people we’ve vetted who are involved with those businesses. They may pay us a referral fee or commission if you join. This doesn’t change what you pay them.
We always ask first. We tell you who we’d connect you with and that we may be paid for it. We share your information only if you say yes.
We don’t make income claims for any business, and we’re not responsible for another company’s offers, costs, or claims. Before you join or buy anything, ask for the startup costs, ongoing costs, cancellation terms, and typical results after expenses, in writing.
